Rhythmbox “Limewire Tunes”

I had a bit of a start today when I opened up Rhythmbox to listen to some streaming radio and there under the “Shared” section was a new entry called “Me’s LimeWire Tunes”.

Install NVIDIA 177.13 drivers on realtime kernel

Alright! As I posted in an earlier blog post, there is some problem with the installer for the 177.13 (and 173.14.09) NVIDIA drivers. It seems that these recent installers will NOT work on a realtime kernel.

There is a post on the nvidia forums that describes the problem, but leaves out some of the details on how to actually fix it. At least, I didn’t immediately see the answer.

Doom3 and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Fix

Although I mostly still play Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, I have had Doom3 on my machine, and I recently downloaded the older Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

The problem I was having, though is that for some reason — I think having 3 monitors — the mouse was all wonky. In the opening menus, it would jump off the screen. However, I recently got both these games working!

Fail: VirtualBox and Existing WinXP SP3 Partition

My laptop is set up to dual-boot WinXP in those cases where I am out and about and might need to get back into Windows.

I wanted to virtualize the existing WinXP partition, so I didn’t actually have to re-boot to do one thing in Windows. Virtualization has worked very nicely for me on the desktop. Read the rest of this entry »
