I’ve been spending a bit more time on the command line lately. I appreciate the power there – a GUI is nice, sure, but it’s a tradeoff. Here are a few little tips I’ve picked up along the way that have helped me, and just might help you too!

Package Size

I was reading the Ubuntu Forums, and someone asked how to determine the size of an installed package. This was interesting to me – I had blogged about finding package binaries before – so I thought I would try to find a solution.

Packages and Binaries: Where is it?

At the last Okinawa LUG meeting, we were talking about installing and packages and related things, and someone asked how you can find where a package installed its binary (when it doesn’t create a menu entry, of course).
