Install NVIDIA 177.13 drivers on realtime kernel

Alright! As I posted in an earlier blog post, there is some problem with the installer for the 177.13 (and 173.14.09) NVIDIA drivers. It seems that these recent installers will NOT work on a realtime kernel.

There is a post on the nvidia forums that describes the problem, but leaves out some of the details on how to actually fix it. At least, I didn’t immediately see the answer.

This is what I did to install the 177.13 drivers:

This is a bit strange. Available via HTTP, but not up on the FTP site are the new 177.13 drivers.

Furthermore, for some reason I can’t install these drivers. It’s the first time the installation has failed for me (and I’ve done this at least a half-dozen times).

NVIDIA 173.14.05 Drivers Out

(32-bit | 64-bit)

These came out a couple of days ago, but I just got them installed today. So far everything seems fine – stress testing (“games”) to be performed later!

NVIDIA 173.08 Drivers Out

Now up on the FTP site (32-bit | 64-bit). A bit o’ official info here.

I installed the new drivers, process went without a hitch – now I must test with some stress rendering. (read: play some games!)

NVIDIA 171.05 Drivers out

Found out about this from Phoronix.

The 171.05 drivers are available from the FTP site (64-bit) (32-bit), but are not announced on the site. I went ahead and installed them – which makes twice today I’ve installed drivers, thanks to the kernal updates that came down – and everything seems fine.

NVIDIA 169.07 Driver out

Sweet! New drivers out, and the 100% fan bug is fixed!

Installation was perfectly smooth, hooray! This is also the first time I’ve noticed glxgears breaking 14000FPS, so that was a nice treat! (14044.954FPS).
